Science Ranch 2012 Registration and Info

Registration

You can register for Science Ranch 2012 by contacting the C Lazy U directly at 970-887-3344 or emailing them at jdwyer@clazyu.com. Be sure to tell them you want to join Science Getaways on September 16, 2012.

Rates

The cost is $355 per person per night for double occupancy, or $375 for single occupancy (if you’re interested in sharing a room to keep your cost down, we’d be happy to help you find a compatible roommate – just contact us.) This rate includes all meals and standard ranch activities. The nightly rate does not include alcoholic beverages, spa services, trap shooting, ropes course, zip line, guided fishing, yoga or luxury camping. In addition to the nightly rate, there will be a 5.7% room tax, 3.9% food and beverage tax and 15% service charge (in lieu of tipping).

The luxury rental home Midnight Trail Lodge requires a minimum of 4 guests, but can sleep up to 11. The rates are $570-$710 per person per night, depending on the number of guests. Please contact C Lazy U for more information.

Minimum Stay

The minimum stay for this getaway is four nights, arriving September 16 and departing September 20. We are offering an optional fifth night stay, available to for any guest who would like to spend more time at the ranch. The scientists will not be present, but you’ll be able to enjoy all the ranch activities or explore the area if you have a vehicle.  Denver, Steamboat Springs, and Breckenridge are all about 2 hours away.

If you’re planning to visit Rocky Mountain National Park, be aware that the road across the park from west to east closes for the winter season in September, but that date is not fixed, so it is impossible to anticipate when the road will close.

Deposit

A 30% deposit per person will be due at time of booking with C Lazy U. Prior to March 1, 2012, deposits are fully refundable upon cancellation. On or after March 1, 2012 deposits will not be refunded for any reason. We suggest purchasing your own private trip insurance.

Alcohol

The C Lazy U Ranch has 2 full bars (in the main lodge and poolside) and also serves beer and wine in the dining room. Alcohol purchases from the bars or dining room will be added to your final bill so there’s no need to carry cash on the ranch.

Connectivity

Free wireless internet is available in all cabins and common areas. Cell phone service is available throughout the ranch.

Getting to the Ranch

The closest major airport is Denver International. There are several services offering transportation from the airport to the ranch. It’s also an easy and beautiful 2 hour drive if you prefer to rent a car. Visit the ranch’s website for ground transportation options.

What to Bring

The weather in September is generally warm during the day and chilly at night, so pack accordingly, including gloves and a warm jacket for stargazing. If you plan to go horseback riding, be sure to bring a pair of jeans and boots (they don’t have to be cowboy boots). Please refer to the ranch’s website for information on preparing and packing.

Children at the Ranch

Because this event is after Labor Day and school is back in session, the ranch will not be staffed to provide childcare or children’s activities. Older children who can participate in all activities are welcome to join the group. If you’re not sure your child is old enough to participate, please contact the C Lazy U at 970-887-3344 for guidance.

Questions

If you still have questions, please check the C Lazy U website. If you don’t find your answer there, you can always contact us.
